The Indonesia acceptability of Indonesian coffee has been demonstrated by the increase in importing countries along with its last growing volume of export during recent decades. More then 80% of Indonesian coffee is exported to over 50 countries, making the commodity one of Indonesia’s major foreign currency earners.
The principal consumers of Indonesian coffee are Japan, Western and Eastern Europe, the United States, North Africa and the Middle East.
Export of coffee is mostly handled by government (Department of Trade), approved exported, from a large numbers of ports throughout the archipelago. Major ports for coffee export are Medan, Palembang, Bandar Lampung, Bengkulu, Padang, Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya and Ujung Pandang.
